Portrait days made straightforward
Portraits are both a cherished image for families and the reference point for secure delivery later in the year.
We typically capture 5 to 7 portrait images per child, allowing families a good range of expressions and poses. In most cases, we allow around 30 to 45 seconds per child per studio setup, which means a class of 30 can usually be photographed in roughly 15 minutes per setup.
Before portrait day, we ask for a simple MIS export so we can prepare QR-coded pupil cards and organise galleries efficiently. Portrait files are then supplied in a format suitable for MIS or admissions import.
Our setup is designed to be efficient and professional. We follow a strict no-touch approach, and if any uniform adjustment is needed, a member of school staff can assist.

We work with schools to reach strong registration levels before content is published. Partner schools typically achieve very high registration rates with straightforward reminders and follow-up.If needed, we can provide a list of families we have not yet heard from so school staff can support follow-up.

Consent, access and school support
Children’s safety sits at the heart of the service. We manage parent registration, track consent choices, and support schools with clear documentation, including a DPIA on request. Families are given the information they need to make an informed choice, and access is issued through a process designed specifically for school environments.
Safer school marketing imagery
A major benefit for schools is that we can take a do-not-use social media marketing list and apply it to the images made available in the school’s admin area, helping ensure that children on that list do not appear in the final collection of photos available for download. For schools wanting an additional layer of protection for public-facing imagery, SafeFace AI can also support the creation of safer marketing images for wider use.

The earlier we receive key dates, the easier it is to plan consistent coverage across your school year.
We send reminders before booked events so timings and locations can be checked, and we ask schools to let us know about changes as early as possible. If a school needs to amend or cancel a booking close to the event date, the team can support that directly.

Splaat Photo was founded in 2009 by Greg McClarnon, with a simple aim: to give families a lasting visual record of their child’s time at school.
Today, we photograph approximately three million images each year across around 2,500 school events in the UK. That experience has shaped a service designed to give schools high-quality content, lower admin, and a better experience for families.
We built Splaat Photo because we believed schools and families deserved something better: broader coverage across the academic year, more secure delivery, and a service built around safeguarding, consent and genuine parent value.
